Oddballs is an American-Canadian animated comedy series created by YouTuber James Rallison (TheOdd1sOut) and Ethan Banville. The series premiered on October 7, 2022 on Netflix.
Premise[]
Oddballs follows James, a bubble-shaped boy, whose observations on life fuel his comedic rants at everyday annoyances and elevates them to laughably absurd heights. Along with his best friends Max (a talking crocodile) and Echo (a girl who claims to be from the future), James' ridiculous schemes to question norms often result in disaster.[1]
Production information[]
Developing the idea sometime around 2018[2], Creators Rallison and Banville pitched the series to Netflix in early 2020, with the service picking up the series in August that year. According to Rallison, the entire production of the series occurred remotely, amid studios locking down during the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
Rallison announced the series in a YouTube video on June 23, 2022, along with revealing the show would premiere later in the year.[3]
The official trailer was released on September 16, 2022 with a confirmed premiere date of October 7, 2022.[4]
With the series premiering on Netflix, the first episode, "Raising Toasty", released on YouTube on October 7, 2022.[5]
A second season was unofficially announced on October 8, 2022.[6] In January 2023 The season was revealed to release on February 24, 2023 [7]with a trailer released on January 26, 2023 on Netflix After School.
In May, 2023 Ethan Banville announced that Season 3 had been cancelled.
In September 2023 a graphic novel was published, containing stories that didn’t make it into the show.
